Pitso: There was never a problem

The Citizens again showed immense character and composure – like they did against Bidvest Wits over the weekend – to come from behind to register a victory over an Absa Premiership title rival.

Lebohang Maboe had given Sundowns the lead in the first 15 minutes, but City responded with two good goals from Kermit Erasmus and new signing Chris David.

Mosimane is of the opinion that the Brazilians were hard done by as they were never in danger throughout the match, yet they had nothing to show for their efforts in the Mother City.

“We played well. If Themba Zwane smashes that one that came off the post, it’s a different story,” Mosimane told reporters after the match.

“If [Tebogo] Langerman controls the ball, that one in front of goal before he shoots, he shoots quickly, it’s a different story. If Langerman scored that one-on-one with the goalkeeper, the one he controlled, it’s another story. But those stories don’t mean nothing cause it’s talk. You must convert neh? If you don’t convert it’s always the case. But it’s okay, I accept and we move on,” said Mosimane.

When probed on what would have been a fair result Jingels, Mosimane replied: “I don’t know. If you take all your chances in the match then probably a draw.  We probably deserved a draw to be honest. We didn’t deserve to lose. There was never a problem, never, never!”

“We closed all the angles on [Siphelele] Mthembu, we closed Kermit in the first half. He was playing outside the box, switching play from left to right. We didn’t have a problem with him. We closed [Thato] Mokeke not to join the party. Where is the problem, but we lose the match? When you do everything thing it’s part of football, that’s why it’s the beautiful game. What can I say to the boys? We controlled the game.”

Mosimane also had high praise for his counterpart Benni McCarthy and his City outfit for playing attractive and entertaining football.

“Unbelievable game. What was good about the game is it was a proper football match that you don’t really see a lot in the PSL. Shows big respect to Benni and his team, yeah. [He is] Not long in coaching but playing the right kind of football and proper football. What a good game. I’m happy it was a proper football match,” Mosimane concluded.
