Thobejane still fighting Baroka dismissal

Thobejane is accusing Bakgaga of breaching their contract by dismissing him in March 2018 for allegedly drinking on the job, and demands to be paid a settlement fee by the Limpopo outfit.

"We are still busy with that case," Thobejane tells KickOff.com.

"Right now the case is still with the PSL. It's been always there at the PSL, it's just that it keeps getting postponed. It went to the CCMA only to find that there was a problem of refusing to settle. We came here (PSL), we wanted to settle it here - they refused to settle. Even now I'm still busy with this case at the PSL. As you know that in meetings there are proceedings there and there because of one, two, three, let's postpone it. But it's not the PSL's fault, it might be that the two parties are failing to agree on something. Aah, re tlabe raya FIFA [we will go to FIFA], because a contract is a contract? We came with unfair dismissal akere [right]? The contract still had three years. The PSL is still busy. There is no date, there's nothing. E kase felele moyeng taba ye [it won't just fade away]."

Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele insists Thobejane doesn't have a leg to stand on.

He says: "Let him take it to FIFA. We told him to come to a hearing, he didn't come, so what should we do with him? It's not my business, I can't give him blessings to take the case kae, kae. Ake re he took it to the CCMA at first? Ya ba palela ko CCMA and he took it to PSL. Whether he takes it to FIFA or wherever I'm not the one who is going to tell him where to take it.

"The fact of the matter is he drank bojwala [alcohol] on duty this person. That can't change. No one is supposed to drink while on duty. He doesn't even have a case that man, nothing. Because the other people who were with him apologised and said we'll never do it again. There is no case there, he doesn't have a case. He is just praying for nothing. Even you, if you can drink alcohol while on duty there at KickOff they will fire you. You can't drink on duty, never. So why shouldn't he be fired?"

Meanwhile, Thobejane, who will forever be credited with promoting the Telkom Knockout champions to the Absa Premiership, says he is waiting to hear back from Witbank Spurs about an assistant coach position under Shakes Mashaba.

"I'm waiting for the Spurs guy [Freddy Mapulane] to come back to me, so he can say what decision was taken. The last time we talked he said they still had to agree as a club. I understand it is not a must for someone to phone you once he has taken a certain decision. It's you who is waiting for something who is supposed to check with him so he can tell you 'no, we decided to take so and so'. There's no problem.

"At the moment I can't say I'm busy because where I am there is this brother that I'm just helping. It's not like I have signed anything with him. It's a team from the side of Mabopane, it plays in the SAB."
