Kaizer Chiefs have reluctantly commented on the huge interest in Khama Billiat.
According to media reports, the club has already turned down a R23-million offer from Egyptian giants Zamalek after the player told them he was not interested in leaving Naturena.
The Zimbabwean international's agent Michael Ngobeni recently told this website that he has been inundated with calls from big clubs in North Africa enquiring about his availability.
Chiefs media officer Vina Maphosa has now commented on the situation.
"We report on concluded deals, not something that is still happening or whatever," Maphosa tells KickOff.com.
"When the player is bought by someone, you can call me, we'll confirm for you. But we won't get involved where negotiations are taking place, whereas it is for Billiat or any other player, we will conclude when a deal is done. We won't reveal anything so just be guaranteed that.
"We won't reveal any player that is just negotiating with someone or so, it's not in the spirit of negotiations for anybody. But if there's a club that says we've made an offer, please, please we ask you to talk to that club, not us. With us we will tell you when that club has made an offer that we are willing to take or that we are considering or that we have taken.
"We won't talk if there's nothing that we are doing to perhaps finalise something or whatever. I'm not going to talk about Billiat, it's safe to say Billiat is a Kaizer Chiefs player so I can't talk about a player who is our player, and talk about him in the media about his case, you know what I mean? That's not how we deal with things at Chiefs.
"I'm talking about any player at Chiefs, if somebody wants that player, they say they've made an offer, talk to those people and then with us. If there's an offer that we are considering to deal with any club for any of our players, we will also inform you.
"And if the deal is on the table, we will not divulge because that is not going to be in the spirit of anybody, to divulge negotiations of some sort. We will tell you when something has been done, concluded and so forth, like we did with Teenage [Hadebe], like we did with players that we've released. We told you, we never hesitated to tell you."
