Clubs should follow in Bucs' footsteps

The Buccaneers brought in Stephane Adam at the start of the new campaign to assist players with their finishing and decision-making in front of goal and it’s certainly helped the likes of Thembinkosi Lorch, Justin Shonga and Vincent Pule.

“I think in football you must not be like ‘I know everything’. In football you have to learn from other people. If Pirates can do that, then every team must do that,” the former Jomo Cosmos forward said during the launch of the Castle Africa 5s competition.

“It’s much better than a defender talking about the scoring, and a striker talking about the defending. But everybody goes to school and they have the same certificate, but if they can specify like what Pirates has done, then I think other teams need to step up.

“We need to use every little thing that can make us go up there and do wonders at the World Cup. Let’s see one of the teams from the Southern African region going to the quarter-final at the World Cup or the second round. We need answers and Pirates have started getting answers like by getting [a finishing coach].

“In football, you have a goalkeeper coach, but we forget to specify the defenders, the midfielder coach and on the striking perspective. Maybe specification will help our players with scoring goals.”
