Stars claim back-to-back wins

It was a cagey affair in the opening stages of the first half, with both sides failing to create clear-cut scoring opportunities in the opening 15 minutes.

Maritzburg shot-stopper Richard Ofori had to be alert on 25 minutes, as did well to save Sinethemba Jantjie's curling free-kick.

The game's first real chance arrived after 31 minutes as Andrea Feliccia broke into the box before forcing Badra Sangare into a good save from close range.

That proved to be the final bit of goal-mouth action in the half, as the sides went into the break goalless.

Stars went close to breaking the deadlock in the 52nd minute as Mohammed Anas turned his marker before firing a low effort just wide of the upright.

Fadlu Davids opted for a change after 60 minutes as Feliccia made way for Devon Saal as they pushed for an opening goal.

Stars eventually broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute as Anas played in Jantjie, who rifled home a fine left-footed effort from just inside the box.

The visitors nearly doubled their lead four minutes later but Jantjie was denied by the upright, before Tebogo Potsane hit the same post from the rebound.

Maritzburg threw numbers in search of an equaliser in the final 10 minutes, but they were unable to carve out a clear-cut chance.

Nevertheless, the score remained 1-0 to Ea Lla Koto as the referee brought a close the second half.
