Chippa hold Downs in PE

The Brazilians enjoyed a lot of possession in the early stages of the match but mostly in their own half.

The hosts waited for their chances on counter-attacks and they got one in the 10th minute where Abel Mabaso had a great opportunity to open the scoring inside the box after turning the defence but his low shot hit the upright.

Percy Tau had a chance to open the scoring in the 21st minute from a free-kick on the edge of the box however his left footed strike sailed slightly over the bar.

After half-an-hour, the game opened up on both ends of the pitch as the Chilli Boys grew in confidence and burst out of their defensive shell.

Khama Billiat sliced a defence splitting pass to Tau who made a blind run inside the box in the 38th minute but Daniel Akpeyi came out quickly to slide and claim the ball to deny the visitors a sure chance at goal.

The pace of the game slowed down in the final five minutes of the first stanza and it ended all square without the goals.

Pitso Mosimane's charges pressurised the hosts for the breakthrough after the break with Tau, Billiat and Sibusiso Vilakazi combining well upfront but the Chilli Boys were resolute in defence. 
Paseka Mako should have broken the deadlock in the 56th minute after beating Bangaly Soumahoro and goalkeeper Denis Onyango inside the box, but the winger who went clear on the far side of the box and blasted his strike over the bar. 
Shot-stopper Akpeyi received a knock on his neck following a corner kick scuffle in the area in the 62nd minute and could not continue with the match. He was replaced by Brighton Mhlongo.
Mosimane made a double substitution with 15 minutes remaining on the clock taking off Vilakazi for Anthony Laffor and Themba Zwane came in the place of Hlompho Kekana. 
The alterations seemed to have had a positive impact in the game as the visitors were more dominant after 85 minutes but were constantly repelled by Moloi's defensive troops. 
Yannick Zakri, the final throw of the dice, came on for Billiat in the last three minutes but he too could not help get past the uncompromising United defence. 
There was six minutes of added time with the Chilli Boys threatening to steal the victory in the end, but it ended scoreless nevertheless.
