Co-coach Rulani Mokwena has hailed defending DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns' squad depth after the return of Pule Maraisane to add competition for places.

The Brazilians remain undefeated so far this season with five wins and a draw after six rounds of fixtures as they lead the log standings.

Mokwena highlighted the intense competition for places with Masandawana the team to beat in this season's title race.

"We need every single football player," Mokwena said.

"There is still a lot of players who will still get a lot more opportunities. George Maluleka has been fantastic in training, Lesedi Kapinga is showing some rejuvenation and fight.

"We’ve signed Pule Maraisane who is working extremely hard to get into the best physical condition.

"As well as Sifiso Ngobeni is also there and Promise Mkhuma is also coming back, so we’ve got a generous squad.

"But also a squad that has very good depth and quality."

Sundowns next face a trip to Golden Arrows in a league clash at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on October 20.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
