All systems go for TKO finalists

Telkom Knockout

The 2019 Telkom Knockout final is just days away and the two teams are gearing up for what is expected to be an exciting clash at Moses Mabhida Stadium this weekend.

Maritzburg United and Mamelodi Sundowns are set to meet for a second time this season after the two sides earlier met in a league encounter back in September, when the Brazilans came out 2-1 victors at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

However, the Team of Choice appeared to be switched on and fully focussed during their pre-match media open day at Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday.

Eric Tinkler, who last lifted the TKO trophy with Cape Town City in 2016, put his charges through their paces for what will be a first opportunity at silverware for many at the club, but also a shot at redeption for some who were part of their Nedbank Cup final defeat last year.

Sundowns, meanwhile, still have a test against bottom-of-the-table Stellenbosch on Wednesday evening at Loftus Versfeld (19h30), before they shift focus to the cup decider on Thursday.
