Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso has sympathised with Maritzburg United over their Telkom Knockout final defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Maritzburg fell agonisingly short at the final hurdle in their league cup final against Sundowns at Moses Mabhida Stadium last weekend, with a controversial decision denying them a chance to go to extra-time and potentially winning their first piece of silverware.
Nonetheless, the Team of Choice now an Absa Premiership date with Chiefs, who will be looking to avenge their TKO semi-final defeat from four weeks ago on Sunday afternoon.
“Last time we played them we lost. We were on a good run and they broke our momentum. It’s going to be a tough one again,” commented Cardoso on his club’s website.
“They were unlucky to lose in the Telkom Knockout final on the weekend. They are a good team with good players and a good coach.
“I know in the cup game against Maritzburg my performance was not up to my usual standard. It was not easy on me after that game, but we won two league games after that and we go into this game with a positive attitude.”
Kick-off at the Harry Gwala Stadium has been scheduled for 15h30.
