Daniels banishes bad Orlando memory

Telkom Knockout

MATCH REPORT: SuperSport crowned TKO champs!

On 26 May 2012, Daniels, who was playing for the Brazilians at the time, was red carded just 17 minutes into the Nedbank Cup final against his current club SuperSport United after bringing down Kermit Erasmus just outside the box.

At the time, SuperSport took advantage and beat Sundowns 2-0 to win the cup with goals from Thabo September and Erasmus.

Fast-forward to 30 months later and Daniels was back at Orlando Stadium to play in the Telkom Knockout final on Saturday, this time in Matsatsantsa’s colours, and emerged victorious after he converted two penalties with Thuso Phala scoring the winner.

“I was also close to be sent off in this Final when I tried to stop a counter-attack by Platinum Stars and that time I already had a yellow card so I thought I was gonna walk,” Daniels admits.

“But I stayed on and I managed to help my team win the cup … It was a tough game for us and well done to my teammates and the technical team. I think we really put in the work,” Daniels concludes.
