Bakgaga lifted their first major trophy by beating Orlando Pirates in the TKO final 3-2 on penalties at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
However, the Limpopo-based outfit are currently hovering above the drop zone courtesy of goal difference after 12 games.
Nyirenda's side will have to quickly refocus for tonight's league clash with Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Tshwane's Lucas Moripe Stadium (19h30).
"First and foremost we would like to let the players immediately forget about the Telkom because when you look at the standings we are not in a good position," Nyirenda said.
"We can't be Telkom champions and then start fighting relegation. We need to move [away] from there."
The Zambian expects a fired-up Sundowns outfit, especially given that Baroka knocked Pitso Mosimane's team out of the TKO with a 2-0 scoreline in the quarter-finals.
"That will be the game of our lives. We need to get three points. If we can't, at least one point.
"We are playing another magnificent team at their home. It won't be easy. They have seen us winning the Telkom and they will just throw everything at us.
"I know Pitso is a great tactician. He will come full force to us."
