The secret behind Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali's top performance in the Telkom Knockout semifinal win over Golden Arrows has been revealed.
Jali's father 'Chester' traveled all the way from Matatiela to Durban to watch his son in action and this seems to have inspired 'AJ' to produce one of his best performances in the Sundowns jersey this season.
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder was later named man of the match after helping The Brazilians beat Arrows 2-1 on Saturday and secure a ticket to the TKO final.
"I was at the stadium to watch him in action. It's been long [since I've done that] because I always watch him on TV," Jali senior, who was also a renowned footballer during his heyday, tells KickOff.com.
"I was happy with his performance even though I believe he can always do better. I know his true potential and he has not reached that yet."With more game time and hard work, I believe he can reach the level he's supposed to."
Jali will be looking forward to building on his latest performance when Sundowns host AmaZulu in the Absa Premiership at Loftus Stadium tonight (19h30).
