Telkom Knockout

READ: Rama - We hate playing Tuks

AmaTuks are yet to pass the first round of any cup competition since entering the topflight two seasons ago.

However, they did manage to reach the Nedbank Cup Final in 2009, but by then they were still plying their trade in the National First Division.

"Every season, one has to challenge for honours, that's why players are in this game and us coaches we want to win trophies," Barker says.

"As our chairman said it is time for us to improve our cup record and to go as far as possible which is our aim."

Tuks will meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout last-16 tomorrow at Loftus Versfeld looking to advance to the next round for the first time.

"We feel that we can draw a victory over Sundowns and we are very confident that we will achieve that," Barker says.

"It is not going to be an easy game for them. They will be respecting us and seeing us as a difficult opposition. I have a strong feeling that we will do well in cup competition this season.

"I do believe that it will start with this Telkom Knockout tomorrow."

Barker adds: "We need to beat big teams whether it is from the first round right through to the Final. If you beat a team like Sundowns, it somehow gives you a belief that it is your time.

"We see this game that if we win, we are going to be a difficult team to beat in this competition."
