A former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder and a few former Premier Soccer League stars are enjoying their football again under Clinton Larsen at amateur club Summerfield Dynamos.
The KwaZulu-Natal club, based in Chatsworth, is currently leading their ABC Motsepe League stream with only four matches remaining, and look on course to clinch a spot in the national play-offs.
Sandile Zuke has been searching for a team since he was released by Uthongathi FC in 2020 but seems to have now found his groove back after reuniting with fellow ex-professionals at Dynamos.
Several other players like Deolin Mekoa are also trying to resurrect their football careers under Larsen.
"Ja Sandile is with me, he's still playing and he's doing very well, Sandile is only 33,” Larsen tells Kickoff.com.
"I've got Deolin Mekoa, Lucky Nguzana, I've got Njabulo Nene, I've got Parasnuth, I've got the Ghanaian Samuel Darpoh from AmaZulu, those are ex-PSL players.
"It's big names that everyone threw away. Nobody wanted them. Everybody wrote them off, I am trying to help them.
"Our club is number one," adds Larsen, "We've got four games left. At the moment we are three points clear of the team that's number 2.
"Well in Durban it's two streams, Stream A Stream B. So we will play the winner of Stream B, we are leading Stream A.
"And there's a play-off between the winner of Stream A and Stream B, and the winner of that goes to play-offs.
"You will see us in the Nedbank Cup last 32, we are playing Uthongathi. But we are a small team, we are not worried about Nedbank. We must try and get promoted. We gave ourselves a three-year plan for promotion, and if we can do it in the first year it will be a big bonus,” Larsen said.
