Serero celebrates magic milestone abroad

Thulani Serero achieved a notable milestone with UAE Gulf Pro League champions Al Jazira over the weekend.

Bafana Bafana international midfielder Thulani Serero continues to thrive in the United Arab Emirates and played a starring role in the reigning champions' 3-2 league win over Emirates Club on Friday afternoon.

The 31-year-old's latest showing for the Arab giants helped maintain his side's four-match unbeaten start to the season in his 50th club appearance across all competitions.

Serero's latest milestone comes just months after he was named as the division's Best Foreign Midfielder, while also receiving a nomination as the Best Foreign Player award while being named in the division's Team of the Season.

The former Ajax Cape Town star joined Al Jazira from Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem in August 2019, while having previously enjoyed a highly successful spell with Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.

Kurt Abrahams and Lyle Foster went head-to-head on Sunday as Westerlo played out a 2-2 draw against Deinze in Belgium. Abrahams joined Deinze on a free transfer from Westerlo at the start of the season, while Foster arrived at the latter on loan from Vitoria Guimaraes.

Thibang Phete and Sphephelo Sithole both featured for Belenenses in the Portuguese Primeira Liga During Saturday's 1-1 draw against Gil Vicente. The duo were unable to prevent their opponents from scoring a last-gasp equaliser, however, which has left Belenenses in the relegation zone.

Earlier in the week, Dino Ndlovu opened his account for the campaign with a first-half hat-trick in Kocaelispor.'s 3-1 win over Bal─▒kesirspor. The 31-year-old moved to Turkey at the start of the season after parting ways with Chinese side Zhejiang Greentown.

Lars Veldwijk featured as K League 1 side Suwon FC fell to a surprise 2-1 defeat to Seoul FC. The Dutch-born striker is currently the division's joint-highest goalscorer with 15 goals for the season, while he has also chipped in with five assists for the campaign.
