Following Amiens' controversial relegation from Ligue 1, Bafana Bafana star Bongani Zungu has now been linked with a move to one of Europe's most historic clubs.

Zungu had previously admitted he was looking to leave Amiens at the end of the season and, with the club's relegation now being confirmed by the LFP after the league season was called off, his departure from the French outfit appears to be imminent.

The 27-year-old was previously close to joining Spanish side Real Mallorca but, according to France Football, he could now be heading to Scotland, where Premiership giants Rangers are said to have an interest in him.

Per the reports, it appears that no formal offer has been made as of yet, but manager Steven Gerrard is said to have made personal enquiries to a number of sources regarding Zungu's footballing qualities.

Should Rangers decide to take their interest further, they would reportedly need to put forward a figure of about €3 million (R57 million) in order to convince Amiens to part ways with their star midfielder.

The report also claims that Strasbourg – home of fellow Bafana Bafana star Lebo Mothiba – are also keeping an eye on developments over a potential deal for Zungu's signature.
