De Sa on working with Mo Salah

SA Players Abroad

Renowned South African coach Roger De Sa has shared insight into what it is like to work with global superstar Mohamed Salah.

The former Orlando Pirates coach current serves as Carlos Queiroz's assistant manager with the Egypt national team and is preparing for a do-or-die 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Senegal.

In his role with the Pharaohs, which included a run to the 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations final, De Sa has worked with some of the best players from the continent, including Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.

"I think with Mo, all that is missing in his career is World Cup performance and I think that is what he is looking for,” De Sá told SuperSport.

"He carries the team a lot and I think he needs to drop off that pressure a little bit and play a little bit more. We spoke to him about that, he is a lovely man and a fantastic human being, and he's a great player as well.

"He’s very normal, a great guy to coach, very humble, and he’s always willing to give 120%. That's all you can ask for as a coach. To work with him day in and day out is great."
