Pitso Mosimane has reportedly angered Al Ahly officials over comments made regarding his contract negotiations.

Mosimane's contract with the Egyptian giants is set to run until the end of the 2021/22 season but was set to be renewed following positive talks between the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss and Al Ahly club officials last month.

However, there now appears to be a potential spanner in the works after negotiations were postponed until the end of Al Ahly's involvement at the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar next month, with the veteran tactician voicing his concerns.

"Regarding my contract with Al Ahly, I am not sure where we are at, we negotiated before the CAF Champions League finale against Kaizer Chiefs, before the Super Cup against Raja Casablanca, and we are negotiating now ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup," he said, per KingFut.

"Until this moment, we haven’t reached an agreement, there is no disagreement about the salary, but there are some issues regarding other points in the contract. I want to continue working with Al Ahly, the club knows that but we haven’t reached an agreement yet, and I hope we do before the Club World Cup.

"The negotiations are between my agent and Amir Tawfik, the delay is not my choice or Al Ahly’s choice, but it’s not good that it’s taking a lot of time."

Mosimane's disclosure of details surrounding the ongoing negotiations has reportedly sparked the ire of Al Ahly officials who now feel as though the South African coach is trying to publicly pressure the club into committing to the new deal.

"Al Ahly are angry at Mosimane after his statements in the press conference that followed the Arab Contractors match when he revealed details of his negotiations with the board regarding his contract negotiations,” club legend Ahmed Shobier said on ONTime Sport FM.

"The Al Ahly board discussed the crisis in their last meeting and it was decided to remain silent and postpone the decision to extend Mosimane’s contract until after the Club World Cup. Mosimane is against this idea and is putting pressure on the board to make the decision as he has other offers and hopes to make a decision soon."
