Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba appears set to complete a loan across France as he continues his comeback from a long-term injury.

Earlier this month, Mothiba made his first appearance for Ligue 1 side Strasbourg in February 2020 after being sidelined for nearly two years with consecutive knee, hip and hamstring injuries.

The 25-year-old missed 40 matches for his club while he was out of action before completing his long-awaited return during the 1-0 defeat to Montpellier in the Coupe De France.

Mothiba has since made one more cameo appearance in the league for Strasbourg but now appears set to move out on loan for the remainder of the season in order to get more minutes under his belt.

According to the French publication, L'Equipe, the former LOSC Lille star is set to join fellow Ligue 1 side, ESTAC Troyes, on loan this week in a deal that will run until the end of the current campaign.

This appears to have been confirmed by Mothiba on Tuesday when he posted an image of himself on a train on his  Twitter account, before responding to a question about his destination with the caption, "-> Troyes."

Troyes – once home to the late Anele Ngcongca – currently occupy 16th position in the log standings after being promoted as Ligue 2 champions during the 2020/21 season.

Mothiba is reported to be contracted to Strasbourg until June 2023 and the clubs have not included an option to buy in the agreement for the striker's services.
