Red-hot Tau tops Egyptian scoring charts

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau has climbed to the top of the Egyptian Premier League's goalscoring charts after yet another prolific performance for Al Ahly on Thursday.

Tau continued his impressive form in front of goal for the reigning African champions when he netted a well-taken brace in Al Ahly's 4-1 comprehensive win over Smouha, taking his tally to five goals for the campaign.

Having netted an impressive solo goal in Monday's win over Ghazl El Mehalla, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star was at it again when he netted Al Ahly's second goal of the night with another remarkable display of individual brilliance.

Chasing down a long ball, Tau twisted and turned his way between two Smouha defenders before firing an unstoppable effort past goalkeeper El Hany Soliman to double his side's advantage in the encounter.

He was far from done for the evening and, after Mohamed Metwaly Canaria and Hussein El Shahat traded second-half goals just moments apart, Tau put the game to bed by netting his brace in the 80th-minute of the tie.

This time, it was a more simple finish for the Bafana Bafana international who positioned himself well to tap home from teammate Mohamed Hany's squared ball into the box.

Tau's brace took his overall tally to five goals in just six appearances in the Premier League this season which saw him draw level with Zamalek's Zizo as the competition's leading goalscorer for the campaign thus far.

His contribution also saw the table-topping Team of the Century maintain their perfect start to the season which has seen them rack up six consecutive wins.
