Mido makes bold Pitso Mosimane claim

Egypt legend Mido has made a bold comparison between Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane and the club's most successful coach of all time.

Mosimane joined Al Ahly from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020 and has since gone on to win back-to-back CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup titles, as well as an Egypt Cup crown, while also finishing third at each of the last two editions of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The South African's achievements in Cairo have garnered widespread acclaim and former Egypt striker Mido believes that he has proven himself to be even better than Manuel José, who is Ahly's most successful coach of all time.

"In my opinion, Mosimane is a better head coach than Manuel José," Mido said, per KingFut. "If José had the same players Mosimane has, he couldn’t have made as many achievements.

"Manuel José is a great coach, but he had the tools and the players who helped him a lot. However, José had a more firm personality which was his major strong point."

José enjoyed three spells with Ahly between 2001 and 2002, 2003 and 2009, and 2010 and 2012, where he won no fewer than 19 major honours, including six Egyptian Premier League titles and a record four CAF Champions League trophies.
