May Mahlangu snapped up in Europe

Former Bafana Bafana international May Mahlangu has been snapped up abroad after nearly a year without a club.

FK Aksu have confirmed the signing of former Bafana Bafana midfielder May Mahlangu in a move that will see the 33-year-old return to football for the first time since leaving fellow Kazakhstan Premier League side Ordabasy in 2021.

Mahlangu will wear the No. 99 jersey for the club next season and was officially registered prior to the closing of the league's transfer window on 23 April, although confirmation was only made earlier this week.

"Aksu football club has signed a contract with South African midfielder Mai Mahlangu," the club shared across its social media accounts, in a post that also highlighted his career achievements to date.

Mahlangu previously played for Helsingborg, Hässleholm and IFK Göteborg in Sweden, Konyaspor in Turkey, Sint-Truiden in Belgium, FC Dinamo in Romania and Ludogorets in Bulgaria, before moving to Ordabasy in 2019.

There, he made 60 appearances for the club and featured in European competitions before parting ways at the end of his contract in July 2021. following which he remained clubless until being snapped up by Aksu last month.
