Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster was the star on the night for the runaway log leaders after recording two goals and an assist in the first hour of the encounter.
The 21-year-old opened the scoring in the 30th-minute and then set up Erdon Daci for Westerlo's second on the night, before striking again to triple the advantage on the hour-mark.
An own goal from Jan Bernat compounded Lierse's misery but they did enjoy a consolation goal through Malagasy forward Hakim Abdallah, who netted his fourth goal of the season.
Foster was substituted off moments later, ending his hopes of bagging an impressive hat-trick, before Leo Seydoux completed the rout for Westerlo by netting the club's fifth of the evening.
For the former Buccaneers striker, his double came as a welcome confidence boost after he failed to net in his opening seven league matches since joining the club on loan from Vitória Guimarães.
He had, however, netted in the domestic cup competition last month, when a well-taken goal against top-flight side Antwerp helped his team claim a 2-1 win to progress to the next round.
