Bafana Bafana striker Lars Veldwijk has taken control of the K League 1 Golden Boot race after scoring four goals for Suwon FC on Sunday.

Veldwijk (29) climbed to the top of the South Korean top-flight's goalscoring charts after firing Suwon to a 5-2 win against Ulsan, netting four times and registering an assist in his side's comprehensive victory over the table-topping outfit.

The Bafana Bafana international has now netted a league-high 13 goals in 20 appearances for the campaign after his latest Man of the Match display, which places him three goals clear of Jeju United forward Joo Min-Kyu in the division's goalscoring charts.

His tally includes eight goals across his last five appearances and a remarkable 12 goals in his last 10 matches for the club, who he joined mid-way through last season after leaving fellow K League 1 side Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.
