An irate Pitso Mosimane has hit back at critics after his selection policy at Al Ahly was questioned.
Egyptian giants Al Ahly maintained their perfect start to the 2021/22 season on Monday after recording a 3-2 win over Ghazl El Mehalla.
The reigning African champions were made to work for the win, however, and needed a 98th-minute goal from Ali Maaloul to claim all three points.
Despite the victory, Mosimane was questioned after the match about his decision to introduce Luís Miquissone in the second half, rather than highly-rated Amar Hamdi.
Miquissone ultimately went on to win the free-kick from which the Team of the Century scored the winning goal and Mosmiane was quick to point that out to the media.
"Do you mean that Ammar should participate and Miquissone?" the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss asked in response.
"Who won the free kick from which we scored the winning goal? Who is the player whose winning goal came from his side? Miquissone is good at playing on the wing and Ammar is not good at that.
"Miquissone is a player at Al Ahly and has the same chances as Ahmed Abdelkader and El-Shahat to participate, and I will replace any player, as Afsha, Percy Tau, and Mohamed Sherif.
"We do not have a star [player] for the team."
Al Ahly's Percy Tau is one of the Bafana Bafana internationals playing abroad
