Ndlovu leads Golden Boot race abroad

SA Players Abroad

Dino Ndlovu is now leading the race for the 2021/22 Turkish 1. Lig Golden Boot award after yet another goalscoring display this past weekend.

Ndlovu continued his impressive form in front of goal for Kocaelispor on Sunday when netted for the third consecutive match during the club's 2-1 defeat to Gençlerbirliği

The 31-year-old's latest strike, which came in the form of a 10th-minute opener, took his overall tally to seven goals in just nine league appearances for the campaign, which is the joint-most by any player in the competition this season.

Ndlovu is equal with Ankaragücü's Eren Derdiyok for goals scored but tops the charts by virtue of playing one fewer match than the former Switzerland international.

Remarkably, the former Mamelodi Sundowns striker failed to score in each of his first four matches of the season before bursting into life in Turkey, where his seven goals have come across his last five appearances.

That number includes an incredible hat-trick against Balıkesirspor last month, a brace against İstanbulspor before the international break and the match-winning strike against Ankara Keçiörengücü two weekends ago.
