Bongani Zungu has been made to train separately at Amiens after returning to the club earlier this month.
Zungu returned to France earlier this month after being held up in South Africa by Covid-19-related travel complications and has finally begun training with Amiens again after completing his mandatory quarantine period.
However, club coach Hinschberger has revealed that the Bafana Bafana international is currently working separately from his teammates with the trainers in order to regain his fitness after missing the pre-season with the Ligue 2 side.
"Bongani Zungu works separately with the physical trainers," Hinschberger said ahead of Tuesday's win over Pau, per le 11 Amienois. "We want to get him completely back on his feet physically because he is staring from far away."
Zungu joined Amiens from Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães in 2017 and made more than 50 appearances for the club in the French top flight, before joining Rangers on loan last season following the club's relegation.
There, he made 21 appearances across all competitions as Steven Gerrard's side went on to break rivals Celtic's nine-year stranglehold of the Scottish Premiership title, completing the league season without suffering a single defeat.
