Banyana Banyana legend Janine van Wyk has returned to South African football after winning the Scottish Women's Premier League title last season.

On Tuesday evening, Hollywoodbets Super League side JVW FC, which Van Wyk founded in 2012, announced that the 34-year-old had returned to the club following a spell with 15-time Scottish champions, Glasgow City.

"Janine van Wyk returns to feature in the Hollywoodbets [Super League] for JVW FC. Van Wyk's last appearance was in the 2016 Sasol League and [she] will now make her mark in the newly-formed SAFA National League," the club said in a statement.

The former Houston Dash star, who is the most-capped player in South Africa's history with 170 appearances for Banyana Banyana, took social shortly afterwards to share her delight at her homecoming.

I'm extremely excited to be back playing my football in South Africa again where the competition has improved dramatically since my last appearance," she said on her official Twitter account. "Looking forward to play the remainder of the Hollywoodbets [Super League] 2021 season."
