Besides the result against Zambia, SAFA also suffered embarrassment off the pitch when Bafana Bafana rocked up with Nike raincoats on top of their new Le Coq Sportif kit.
Molefi Ntseki's national team lost 2-1 to Chipolopolo on Sunday to complete a disappointing series of international friendlies after drawing 1-1 draw with Namibia last Thursday.
SAFA unveiled a new technical partnership with the French manufacturers last week and debuted the new strip against Namibia, but it got awkward in Rustenburg as Bafana also took along raincoats from their old sponsors.
The team tried to hide the Nike logo with black tape to avoid what would have been a conflict of interest between past and current technical partners.
SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlanthe has conceded that the accident with regards to the Nike raincoats should have been avoided.
"It was a rain jacket, it's something we didn't see when the game started," Motlanthe tells KickOff.com.
"In the second half they were not kitting it on, so we corrected it. It was something that was not supposed to have happened."
