South Africa’s national under-23 team has been the country’s latest national team to qualify for a major competition.
Bafana Bafana, Banyana Banyana and the national under-20 mens team have all played in major competitions this year and now David Notoane’s under-23 side will play at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in November.
They beat Zimbabwe 5-0 on aggregate in the final round of qualifiers, to book themselves a place in the eight-time competition.
The tournament will determine which three countries will represent Africa at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The under-23s beat Zimbabwe 5-0 in the first leg clash at Orlando Stadium last Friday and played to a goalless draw in the second leg played in Bulawayo this afternoon.
