Sibaya applauds Radebe's SAFA move

SA National Teams

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder MacBeth Sibaya has applauded SAFA for giving former players a chance inside the Association.

There has been an outcry about the lack of former players in the SAFA structures, which many believe has contributed to the lack of success of Bafana Bafana.

However, SAFA's National Executive Committee recently roped in former national team stars Lucas Radebe, David Nyathi, Brian Baloyi and Fabian McCarthy to work within the organisation.

Radebe and Nyathi have been placed on the technical committee while Baloyi and McCarthy will be involved in media and marketing.

Sibaya, who has also represented the country on the international stage and in Europe, has welcomed the move to bring in big former players.

"It's refreshing and a well-thought-out decision by SAFA because the players appointed were not just given because they played the game," Sibaya tells KickOff.com.

"It's been long overdue for people like Lucas Radebe, who has been deserving to be part of the organisation."

Among other appointees are Boobie Solomons, Farouk Khan, Sudesh Singh and Greg Mashilo onto the SAFA technical committee.
