Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye wanted Molefi Ntseki to resign following Bafana Bafana's latest failure.
The former under-20 coach has been thrown into the fire by the supporters after failing to take Bafana Bafana to the next Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameron.
A 2-0 defeat in Sudan sealed the national team's fate on Sunday as their opponents joined Ghana in the qualification pot, with SAFA since confirming his sacking on Wednesday.
"Coach Ntseki must step down as Bafana Bafana coach as soon as possible. The man has failed the country," Khanye told KickOff.com before the announcement.
"I am still surprised how he got the job in the first place. He has never coached in the PSL and GladAfrica Championship. He never graduated to this position.
"I would love to see Pitso Mosimane back to Bafana Bafana. His record speaks for itself. He won the Champions League with Sundowns. He is coaching one of the biggest teams in Africa.
"He came to Sundowns when they were not winning anything. They had foreign coaches like [Johan] Neeskens, Henri Michel and [Hristo] Stoichkov but never won anything.
"SAFA needs to bring back Pitso and give him time to rebuild this team and be supported by the likes of Zipho Dlangalala and Dan 'Dance' Malesela to lead the national team."
