Bafana fixture change communicated

SA National Teams

Bafana Bafana will face Sudan in their final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier and a change to the kick-off time of the fixture has been confirmed.

The match was initially said to kick-off at 16h00 (CAT) at Al-Hilal Stadium in Khartoum, Sudan on Sunday afternoon but CAF have confirmed 18h00 as the official time.

"CAF has confirmed to us in writing that the match will kick off at 18h00," SAFA CEO Teboho Motlanthe confirmed on the association's website.

This will coincide with the other Group C encounter between leaders Ghana and Sao Tome and Principe, who are already eliminated from the qualifying campaign.

Bafana, who are second on the standings with 10 points, face a crucial battle against the Falcons of Jediane, who are in third position and on nine points.

Molefi Ntseki's charges need only a point to secure their tickets to the AFCON finals in Cameroon next year, while the hosts must register a victory to join the Black Stars in qualification.

Following their arrival in Sudan on Friday, Bafana held just one training session on Saturday at the match venue, after having their negative Covd-19 test results confirmed.

"We just received the team’s Covid-19 results and they are 100 percent clear. Everyone in camp tested negative," team doctor Thulani Ngwenya confirmed on the SAFA website.
