Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has provided an update on Mothobi Mvala's availability ahead of Friday's 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.
Mvala's involvement in South Africa's upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana has been in doubt after the Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder sustained a groin injury earlier this month.
National team coach Broos has confirmed that the 27-year-old will be part of the travelling squad for Friday's clash in Harare but that a decision on his availability for selection will only be taken after further evaluations have been completed.
"He will stay with the group, for sure, so he will go with us to Zimbabwe and then we will see," the Belgian tactician said. "We are still evaluating but at the moment it is going well, every day better and better, but between that and playing on Friday is still a difference.
"We will see tomorrow [Wednesday] how things are going and at the last on Thursday, but I know that the one who plays will be ready, whether it is Mvala or another player."
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo has been training with the squad as injury cover for Bafana Bafana, who are also without the services of the injured Mosa Lebusa and Innocent Maela.
