Vukusic banking on Mashumba

City recently recruited Zimbabwean striker Charlton Mashumba from Jomo Cosmos, seemingly as a replacement for Highlands Park-bound hitman Rodney Ramagalela.

"We already signed a top striker in Charlton Mashumba from Jomo Cosmos," Vukusic said prior to Highlands announcing Ramagalela's capture on transfer deadline day.

He added: "He's a good striker who can add more value on the team as we need goals."

Vukusic was reluctant to comment on Ramagalela's status at the Absa Premiership outfit, but confirmed he was not training with the team.

City's management suspended Ramagalela allegedly after he declined to sign a new contract with the club.

"I can't really comment about him. Yes, he's still not training. I only focus on the players on training," Vukusic said.

Asked if 'RamaG' will be part of the team going forward, he said: "It is up to the management. I really don't want to make any further comments."

Meanwhile, South African Football Players' Union president Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe said they will continue to monitor Ramagalela's situation in Limpopo.

SAFPU previously threatened to take legal action against Rise and Shine if Ramagalela continued to be frozen out.

"The player is still waiting to meet with the club chairman, and to this end he has requested that we give this process a chance," Gaoshubelwe said.

"We hope that this matter will be amicably resolved so that the player can do what he does best, plying his trade."
