Mbatha and Moerane, who are both junior internationals that have come through the Wits junior setup, turned out for Dikwena during the Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup pre-season spectacle which was recently held in Orkney.
The latter was earlier linked with a move to Baroka FC, who were looking to sign him for their Multichoice Diski Challenge team, but the defender opted instead to seek first team opportunities elsewhere.
Stars General Manager Senzo Mazingisa has since confirmed their interest in the duo, but says a final decision will be taken once he returns from a trip overseas.
"Yes we have interest [in Mbatha and Moerane]," Mazingisa tells this website.
"We also have other players that we are still looking at in training. At the moment I am not in the country and will only get the report from the coach [Peter Butler] when I return."
Meanwhile the Rustenburg-based outfit have renewed their interest in Mamelodi Sundowns striker Bongi Ntuli, who has spent the past two seasons on loan at the club.
Mazingisa and co. are also working around the clock to secure the signature of former Orlando Pirates midfielder Lehlohonolo Masalesa, who is currently a free agent after leaving Greek side AE Larissa at the end of last season.
