Ramagalela has been sidelined by City after refusing to sign a new deal with the club and could spend the rest of the campaign watching matches from the stands after penning a pre-contract with the Lions of the North.

"I love Polokwane City, but sometimes people need to understand we are also working for our families. There was an opportunity for me to stay with my family in Joburg so I took the opportunity to go where there is my family. It's not about something else, it's about my family.

"They are in Joburg so I want to be with them, that's why I took the decision that I want to go and stay in Joburg, and I chose Highlands Park."

Despite reports suggesting City chairman Johnny Molagadi is not happy about the player moving on, Ramagalela says they have a good relationship.

"I do have a good relationship with the chairman, there's nothing between me and the chairman. From now on I think it's up to them whether they use me or not, but me as a player I will be ready whenever they need me.

“I'm with the team, and the relationship it hasn't changed, as I said I'm too professional to change the relationship. You know football, football is all about moving from that team to another team, and you must not burn the bridge when you leave the team. That's what I'm doing, I can't damage the relationship which I have with the team."

Asked why it had to be the 'Lions of the North' out of all the Johannesburg teams, and what is it that he hopes to achieve with his new club, he said.

Ramagalela, who had been linked with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, explained why he chose Highlands.

"As a player you need to weigh your options and the chances of you playing every game. I think at Highlands Park I'm gonna play every game without having pressure."
