Ndengane, who won the Player of the Month award for August, left cash-strapped Celtic in October after he asked to be released from his contract.

Not long after leaving Phunya Sele Sele, Ndengane started training with the Buccaneers, who have registered him for their CAF Champions League campaign.

The fact that he has been training with the team is good because he knows the players. What Ndengane now needs is match fitness and he'll no doubt start getting it soon.

A statement of Pirates' website reads as follows: "The Buccaneers will finally have the opportunity to unleash Alfred Ndengane, the no-nonsense defender who joined the club late last year. Ndengane’s move to will be ratified upon the opening of the window where he can be registered with the league.

"More announcements are expected to be made by the club in due course."

The 31-year-old, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, could make hs debut when the Buccaneers take on Highlands Park at Makhulong Stadium on Saturday (20h15).
