The 26-year-old netted eight goals last season, amongst them some truly spectacular strikes, in the 19 starts he made for Ea Lla Koto last term.
Despite this good return the Free State side decided to part ways with the player although Troughton noted that he was not involved in that decision as it had been taken before his arrival at the club.
"It was a decision taken by himself and the management," Troughton tells KickOff.com. "It's something that has to do with the player's injuries.
Troughton, formerly coach of University of Pretoria had Sekotlong on his roster at AmaTuks and had been looking forward to working with the midfielder cum striker once again.
"I know him from University of Pretoria and I was looking forward to working with him. The player and the club have agreed to part ways and I think it's something that happened before I came on board.
"It's an unfortunate situation for the laaitie, you know he scored some incredible goals for the club last season but injuries have been holding him back. I really wish him good luck in his career."
