Pirates have plenty to make up for from last season and began the road to redemption with the signing of Thamsanqa Sangweni from Chippa United at the start of the July, before former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands was also roped in as a free agent.
It didn’t end there for Bucs, either, as on Friday they announced the signing of Nigerian striker Christian Obiozor, and Makola expects big things from the new boys when the 2017/18 campaign kicks off.
“I’m happy that we’ve signed these three guys. [But] we haven’t had too many training sessions; today [Monday] it’s just going to be our third training session and the gym session as well,” Makola tells KickOff.com.
“So, the only guy that I know of all the guys is Wayne Sandilands. I’ve played with him in the national team [Bafana Bafana] and I think he is a quality player, a quality goalkeeper, and also Thami [Thamsanqa Sangweni]. Thami is a quality player, a great midfielder.
"And obviously he [Thami] is going to bring stability and a different dimension into our game. So, the signings that have been made I think they are going to work for us this season.
“And the striker [Christian Obiozor], I haven’t seen much of him except been with him in the gym.”
