Sekola signed a pre-contract with the Lions of the North at the beginning of the year, after entering into the last six months of his deal with Free State Stars.
However, the Tembisa-based outfit have since returned to the First Division after just one season in the top flight, having finished bottom of the Absa Premiership table with 27 points from 30 games.
This website has been following the situation involving Sekola closely, and earlier revealed that the 28-year-old had been negotiating an exit plan from his contract as he has no aspirations of plying his trade in the lower leagues.
It has turned out the 2014/15 Absa Premiership top goal scorer with 14 goals will be turning out for the Chilli Boys on a season-long loan next season, while getting the same salary he agreed with Highlands.
"Sekola will be at Chippa next season, on the same salary he would have got at Highlands Park," revealed a reliable source.
"Wits also wanted the player but they pulled out of the deal when they heard that Highlands were only prepared to release the player on loan, while they preferred a permanent deal.
"So the player has joined Chippa on a season-long loan deal."
Attempts to reach Chippa boss Chippa Mpengesi, and Highlands co-chairmen Larry Brookstone and Brad Katsel proved unsuccesful prior to publishing this story.
