Maphangule is set to join Pirates on a three-year deal when his contract with Black Leopards expires at the end of this month.
The 26-year-old helped Lidoda Duvha gain promotion to the topflight via the play-offs following a runners-up finish to National First Division champions Highlands Park.
With less than four weeks to go before joining Bucs for pre-season, Maphangule is undaunted by the challenge of establishing himself at the Soweto giants.
"I am not at all [scared of competition]. I know what I can do," Maphangule tells KickOff.com.
"I believe in competition. It will push me to give my best. I like competition because it also gives you a chance to improve your game and not relax.
"I know I am a good player and I deserve to play for Orlando Pirates."
Maphangule says his first assignment when arriving at Mayfair is to settle down before making promises to The Ghost.
"The first thing to do is to settle down and fight for the jersey. Then everything will follow after that," adds the Limpopo-born man.
