Sundowns still plotting Brockie swoop

The African champions, who have already brought in three quality signings in Oupa Manyisa, George Lebese and Razak Brimah, are prepared to break the bank to sign SuperSport United striker Jeremy Brockie before the close of the transfer window on Thursday.

The only issue is, should Brockie sign, he will not feature in the CAF Champions League, but he’d no doubt play a major role domestically.

SuperSport revealed on Sunday that Brockie had handed in a transfer request last week, but it was rejected and they are adamant that the player will not leave the club.

It seems not even a player swap would interest Matsatsantsa, but anything is still possible with the window not yet closed.

Insiders have informed this website that Sundowns are confident of landing the striker.

“Yes, it’s possible that the deal [for Brockie] will happen. The club [Sundowns] wants to make it happen,” a source tells

Sundowns, however, distanced themselves from the situation.

“We are not going to talk about other clubs’ players,” says spokesperson Thulani Thuswa.

Brockie was left out of the SuperSport team that drew 1-1 with Maritzburg United in the MTN8 semi-final first leg at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, a clear sign that things are not well and Sundowns are looking to capitalise on the situation.
