Tau unsurprised by Diouf's declaration

Tau is enjoying an impressive season with the Brazilians, and has been linked with an overseas move at the end of the season.

Ngcongca, who spent over a decade plying his trade in Belgium, feels now is the time for the 23-year-old Tau to head overseas.

“I have been speaking to Percy many times and this is what I said to 'Vila' [Sibusiso Vilakazi] also, that when the opportunity comes you should grab it,” Ngcongca said.

“When Vila won everything at Wits, the awards, that was the time where he should have left the country and he didn't go - now he is stuck in South Africa.

“With Percy he is still young, age is still on his side and I told him that he is a player who can play in France for the likes of Monaco, Marseille and in Spain.

“I think this is the right time for him to move and earn experience in Europe and to bring it back to South Africa.”

Ngconga, who could return to Belgium after just one season at Chloorkop, reckons Bafana Bafana's struggles are linked to the lack of South Africans competing in Europe.

“We don't have many players playing in the Champions League at this current moment, I can't even mention one. I don't think there is one who is playing, it was Dino Ndlovu,” Ngcongca added.

“If you look at our national team that's why we are struggling. Because if you look at teams like Senegal, their starting lineup's got players that are playing in the English Premiership and that's what makes a difference.

“The standard in Europe is much higher than in South Africa. Our players need to move and play in Europe and we can have a better national team.”
