Chabangu has linked up with ex-national Under-20 coach Solly Luvhengo, who last month resigned as technical director of National First Division side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
Mikhado boss Itani Musandiwa says Chabangu served the club well in his short stint and insists he showed no sign of ill-discipline. The one-time Bafana Bafana star has previously battled with off-field issues.
"I had no problems with Lerato Chabangu," says Musandiwa.
"I heard a lot of negative reports about him but we never had any form of ill-discipline and stuff.
"He was a true professional. He was always on time at training and always pushing the youngsters hard at training."
Callies coach Luvhengo confirmed the 32-year-old Chabangu is training with the side and is set to pen a deal.
"Yes, he is here with us. We will be signing him."
