Chiefs this week signed ex-Baroka goalkeeper Vries to provide cover to Itumeleng Khune following the departure of Brilliant Khuzwayo to Orlando Pirates earlier this month.
Amakhosi's fans are hurting after an unprecedented three straight years without silverware. And Vries hopes to be a part of the solution along with fellow new signings Khama Billiat, Andriamirado Andrianarimanana and Letlhogonolo Mirwa.
“I want to be part of a squad that will bring back the glory days, because one day in the future I want to sit in a chair and reflect, ‘That’s what we achieved’. I want to be remembered being part of a great Amakhosi squad,” Vries told the club's website.
The 29-year-old former Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows man is confident the side will appease the side's supporters in the new season.
“We [the team] will work hard and put a smile on your face. We know that the three years of trophy drought was not easy.
“Please come out in your numbers to support us. We will make you happy, it’s going to be a good season.”
The Glamour Boys are sill seeking a successor to coach Steve Komphela, who quit the club in April amid heavy hostility from the stands and has since taken charge of Bloemfontein Celtic.
