Bobby: Lorenzo back at the right time

Transfer News

The 24-year-old Amakhosi product was loaned out to Bloemfontein Celtic halfway through last season as Kabelo Mahlasela moved to Naturena from Phunya Sele Sele and did quite well for the Free State side.

Gordinho was no longer a regular at Chiefs when he was loaned out to Celtic, so the game-time he got at the club will give him a lot of confidence as he prepares to battle the likes of Mario Booysen, Siyabonga Ngezana, Daniel Cardoso, Mulomowandau Mathoho and Teenage Hadebe for a place in central defence.

Gordinho is set to start training with Chiefs tomorrow, ahead of next weekend’s Absa Premiership match against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium.

“Lorenzo comes back at the right time, because we have a few injuries. He got a lot of game-time at Bloemfontein Celtic and, because of that, gained a lot of experience,” Motaung told Amakhosi's website.

“It was a well spent year and we also thank Celtic for giving him the opportunity to play. Lorenzo learnt a lot during the past 12 months, which will help him on his return to the club.”

Gordinho left Celtic after playing 14 matches in all competitions in the first half of the season. He could not play the final match of the year against Cape Town City because he was serving the last of a two-game suspension.
