Fadlu: Zakri will bring that X-factor

The prospective move looked in danger of collapsing at one stage, but Zakri's presence in the City of Choice suggests a switch is imminent.

The Ivorian, who previously joined Sundowns from Asec Mimosas in 2016, arrived in KwaZulu-Natal an hour before Maritzburg’s 1-0 loss to Cape Town City in the MTN8 quarterfinals yesterday.

KickOff.com understands Zakri is poised to pen permanent terms with United as part of the deal which saw Keletso Makgalwa join the club on loan for the season following the sale of Lebohang Maboe to Downs.

“If we get a player of that quality it’ll really give us an edge,” Team of Choice coach Fadlu Davids said of Zakri after the defeat to City at Harry Gwala Stadium.

“You’ll see it, he’ll give us that X-factor in the final third since Evans Rusike left.

“That X-factor in the final third, that is definitely what we are missing and we need at the moment.”

Zimbabwean hitman Evans Rusike swapped Maritzburg for SuperSport United in January after scoring 21 goals in 80 appearances in two-and-a-half years with the KZN outfit.

The Team of Choice also recently added Keagan Buchanan, Nazeer Allie, Tholang Masegela, Sizwe Muthwa, Denwin Farmer and Justice Figareido to their roster.
