Recent reports claimed the Nigerian had parted ways with the Urban Warriors, having been largely absent for the majority of the campaign.
After a short four-month spell at Bidvest Wits earlier this year, following a forgetful three-year spell at Mamelodi Sundowns, the 25-year-old signed a four-year deal with Ajax in July, featuring in four league games and the club’s sole Telkom Knockout fixture so far this season.
The winger last featured for the club in that TKO penalty shootout loss to Polokwane City on 28 October, with a recurring Achilles tendon injury keeping him on the sidelines since.
Yet Uzoenyi maintains he’s still part of the club, despite reports saying he had parted ways with the Urban Warriors.
“No, I’m just on a break and am back home in Nigeria,” he told KickOff.com. “I haven’t heard anything of that.”
Uzoenyi says he’s unsure of the exact date of his return, but is hopeful it’ll be sooner rather than later.
“I will be back soon,” was all he could say about his return.
