The former Free State Stars man, who just finished his third season with the Soweto giants, is said to have signed a two-year contract extension that has a one-year option.
Cardoso has been arguably the club's top performer this season, playing a key role in Amakhosi’s rearguard. Chiefs finished the campaign with the best defence in the league, conceding 22 times in their 30 matches.
He was initially contracted to the club until the end of June. SuperSport United are said to have expressed an interest in the 29-year-old, but it looks like Amakhosi have secured the services of one of their key players.
"Yes, Cardoso has signed for another two years, but there is an added one-year option. So we can say it's three years," a source tells KickOff.com.
The 2017/18 campaign was Cardoso’s best since joining Chiefs from Ea Lla Koto. He made 37 appearances in all competitions.
